Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman has made his position crystal clear. He will not vote in favor of the state budget prior to the approval of the new daft law backed by the chareidi parties.
“The draft law is an inseparable component of the coalition agreements and we expect from all coalition agreements to support the law if they wish to see a continuation of the coalition.
Last week, the Moetzas Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel decided to link the two, that is to say, the chareidi MKs are instructed to insist on the passage of the new draft bill prior to supporting the annual budget.
Despite Litzman’s firm position, truth be said the situation is far more complicated because both the Kulanu and Yisrael Beitenu coalition partners are opposed to the law, as are some members of Likud. The law was supposed to be voted on in Knesset on Taanis Esther, in a preliminary vote, but it was removed from the agenda as the chareidi parties realized it was not going to pass.

Who cares what this clown says or does? Maybe he should go back and evict some more patients from their hospital rooms (as reported here earlier today in relation to the hospitalization of a chashuve rav) but he continues to embarrass himself and the rabbonim he ostensibly is beholden to by his antics. The religious parties are entitled to a vote on their draft legislation but apparently they are the ones who requested the vote be deferred. If the budget is delayed by the actions of the religious parties, the government should immediately stop making payments to Charedi schools and kollel yungerleit.
