PHOTOS: Israel Police’s Adopting An Elderly Person Program

The Yiftach District of Israel Police has adopted an “Adopt an Elderly Resident” program to assist some of the needy in the district.

Throughout the year, the Israel Police conducts a variety of community activities for needy and helpless populations. Following the extensive activity carried out for the elderly population in the Yiftach District initiated for those living alone in an apartment that does not allow living properly.

For this purpose, a team was established in the Yiftach District to conduct a number of visits to the elderly person’s apartment and it was decided to carry out a comprehensive renovation of his apartment.

The course of the project included:

• Plaster work in walls and ceiling.

• Painting of walls and ceilings.

▪ Assembling lighting fixtures and replacing sockets and switches.

• Replacement of a shower cabinet, sink, faucet and toilet seat.

• Replacing the faucet in the kitchen sink.

▪ Repairing and painting doors.

▪ Inserting various types of furniture and ornaments that were donated for this purpose.

The renovation took three days, during which policemen gave of their off-duty time to assist community residents, in this case a resident over 80. The resident hugged and thanked them for their efforts and generosity.
