It was a real tragedy in Kfar Sava on Sunday, 3 Adar, when a crane collapsed and landed on a vehicle below, killing Mrs. Neta Rothman A”H, 52, from Tel Aviv.
Mrs. Rothman was known for her activism on behalf of accessibility for the disabled, being disabled herself since birth, getting around with her mobility scooter and her vehicle.
Police launched an investigation into the accident, and detained the crane operator and the shift manager on the building site. They found drugs in the crane operators pocket, not being more specific as to the nature and amount of the drugs. The Petach Tikvah Magistrate Court ordered him held in detention.
Alon, Neta’s husband, had spoke with her on the phone just minutes before the accident. She had just left an important meeting when the fatal accident occurred. Alon received a call from the vehicle’s alarm company indicating there was a problem with the vehicle. He logged on and learned of the accident and immediately understood from the location and events it was his dear wife who was the victim of the tragedy, as images of the smashed vehicle was seen in the articles.

It’s sadly happened before. When Dafna Meir was stabbed, one of the kids called their father. On his way to the hospital, he heard on the radio that a stabbing victim from Otniel had died. Although they couldn’t disclose the name, he knew it was her.
