Israel’s Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit publicly addressed the police recommendations against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the first time on Thursday night and said: “I have identified the attempts to separate between the various bodies that exist inside Israel’s justice system and I wish to clarify one last time that the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the police work hand in hand and have an excellent working relationship. Our common goal is one of the utmost importance, and that is to ensure the authority and rule of law within the State of Israel. We will turn over every stone in our path in order to arrive at the truth and bring it to light.”

Mandelblit made his comments at a conference of Friends of Tel Aviv University and said that: “These investigations were done strictly by the book. They were done in a fashion that was exactly what we should expect from law enforcement agencies. They were done professionally, they were comprehensive, creative, and investigative utilizing the latest investigative technologies available to the police. The entire investigation was conducted in close partnership between the operational elements and the Attorney General’s office.

The Justice Ministry also issued a statement on Thursday morning stating that the publication of the Police Recommendations regarding cases 1000 and 2000 were done in collaboration with the Attorney General’s office.

The Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan said yesterday afternoon in the Knesset that: “I fully support the Israeli police. However, Netanyahu has the benefit of the doubt and is innocent until proven guilty.” Erdan suggested that the situation be left until the Attorney General concludes what will happen with the case.
