Jerusalem has announced its new road service which is intended to respond to major thoroughfares in the hope of getting stuck vehicles out of the way as fast as possible – to keep traffic flowing.
Mayor Nir Barkat was among the city officials on hand on Wednesday, 29 Shevat, to officially kick off the project. The new service is scheduled to go live as soon as next week.
The new road rescue service, which will begin operating next week in the capital, in the Jerusalem metropolitan area, will be operated by the Transportation and Infrastructure Development Division of the Jerusalem Municipality and the Administration of Infrastructure Planning and Development in the Ministry of Transport in cooperation with the Jerusalem District Police. Mobility will be operated by the Metropolitan Center for Traffic Management and public transport, through a franchisee who won the tender – the Femi Premium Company.
The vehicles will be equipped with trained personnel who will attempt to keep roadways clear, with an emphasis on tunnels and major roadways.
