Two weeks ago, the municipality of Ashdod began issuing fines for Chilul Shabbos for businesses located on the outskirts of the city, such as the Big Center.

This past Shabbos, the municipality did not distribute fines or warnings as it did in recent weeks. According to the claims made on motzei Shabbos at the secular demonstration in Ashdod, the city inspectors were not seen Shabbos at all in businesses which were operating R”L, with some announcing Mayor Lasri has thrown in the towel on Shabbos enforcement in light of the growing secular protests.

Shuki, one of the speakers at the demonstration, called on the hundreds of demonstrators who participated in the demonstrations that have been taking place on motzei Shabbos for the five past consecutive weeks: “Our demonstrations are helping, Lasri is afraid and he has not issued any summonses or warning this Shabbos.”

The protest took place on motzei Shabbos outside City Hall, as in recent weeks.
