Transportation Minister (Likud) Yisrael Katz appealed today to Minister of Finance (Kulanu) Moshe Kahlon to relinquish the anticipated increase in the annual vehicle license fee on April 1, 2018.

The vehicle license fee, like all other transportation fees, is updated once a year, on April 1, according to the rate of change in the consumer price index. The fees are within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, and the revenues from them are transferred directly to the Treasury.

“I turned to the finance minister to work to lower the car license fee, which is much higher than the accepted rate in the world, out of the large surplus collection from the car industry,” noted Minister Katz.
