Infrastructure For New Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Electric Propulsion Express Train Moves Forward At A Brisk Pace


Infrastructure work is being completed for electric propulsion express line that will run between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Israel Railways is in the process of accelerated development, moving to the next generation, thereby continuing to convert the railway network to electric propulsion and now moves to the section between Modi’in, Ben-Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv.

Israel Railways continues its momentum in order to transport more passengers, to more stations on more trains, while maintaining the maximum safety of all riders while preserving the environment.

As part of the railway network transformation process, which will begin with the initiation of the high-speed line to Jerusalem, Israel Railways will carry out infrastructure work to upgrade and finalize the tracks segments between Modi’in-Ben-Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv.

Beginning on Friday, 24 Shevat at 12:20AM (Thursday night to Friday), weekly to motzei Shabbos at 4:45AM (Motzei Shabbos to Sunday), until further notice, there will be changes in train service between Tel Aviv, Ben-Gurion Airport to Modi’in.

In order to minimize the inconvenience to riders, the following has been arranged:

The night trains between Nahariya and Ben-Gurion Airport will start and end at the Tel Aviv-Savidor Central station, and the Israel Railways will operate free transportation services according to the train times between the Savidor station and the Ben-Gurion Airport station in both directions. Regular service will resume on Sundays.

Friday train service on the Nahariya-Ben-Gurion-Modi’in Line: The train will operate at the Tel Aviv-Savidor Central station, and will operate two free shuttle services, one between Modi’in-Mercaz (Center) and Ben-Gurion Airport in both directions, and the second between Ben-Gurion Airport stations. The train traffic in this section will return to regular schedule every Sunday morning.

The trains between Rishon L’Tzion Rishonim – Tel Aviv: Savidor Center will begin and finish their journey at the Lod station. Passengers wishing to arrive from Tel Aviv’s Rishon L’Tzion station to Tel Aviv, and in the opposite direction, will change trains at the Lod station.

The trains on the Herzliya-Beit Shemesh line will begin and finish their journey at the Lod station. Passengers wishing to get from Beit Shemesh to Tel Aviv / Herzliya, and in the opposite direction, will change trains at the Lod station.

The express trains at the Beersheva-Savidor Center will begin and finish their journey at the Lod station. Passengers wishing to get from Beersheva to Tel Aviv, and vice versa, will change trains at the Lod station.

The following service will resume regular scheduling on motzei Shabbos:

The Negev line between Hod HaSharon to Beersheva via the Tel Aviv/Holon station/Ashdod/Ashkelon/Sderot/Netivot/Ofakim (Western line) will operate on regular schedule.

It is also pointed out that in view of the acceleration of the infrastructure work for the transition to electric propulsion, certain changes have occurred in the train traffic, starting from 19 Shevat until further notice, Sunday through Thursday, between 9:00PM and midnight, Beit Shemesh, Ramle, Kiryat Gat, Lehavim-Rahat and Beersheva.

The main changes in these hours are delays of a few minutes in the original schedule, and in a few destinations, a change of trains.
