On Tuesday night at midnight, there will be an adjustment in gasoline prices at the pumps in Israel the price of a liter of 95 octane fuel at the self-service pumps will be NIS 6.30 including VAT. Based on the Bank of Israel closing exchange rate of Monday, 13 Shevat, of 3.040 shekels = $1 US, a US gallon of fuel under the new price will be $8.28! The latest increase represents a 1.78% increase from January prices.
If wishes to have full service instead of self-service, then one will be charged an additional 20 agorot per liter.
The tax rate on the consumer price of a liter of fuel is 65% according to a Globes article published on November 1, 2016, among the highest in the world. It adds that the tax rate has increased 10%, from 55% to 65% in four years.

the exchange rate is 3.40 not 3.04. 6.30 shekel a liter works out to 6.30 / 33.8 (ounces in a liter) to 18.6 agurot per ounce and multiplying by 128 (ounces in a gallon) gives us 23.86 shekels per gallon. now divide by 3.4 (the exchange rate) gives us $7.02 a gallon. Not as bad as $8.28 but still ridiculously expensive
You guys are getting SO sloppy. WEDNESDAY night midnight is Feb. 1st, NOT Tues. night. And the exchange rate is 3.40 NOT 3.04. At this exchange rate, the cost of a gallon of gas in Israel will be $7 and not $8.28. That is way too many mistakes for one article and is totally inexcusable and frankly- embarrassing. (And you still haven’t corrected your “typo” in the “Phili” (or Philly) article).
This is not normal and we complain when we pay here in NYC $ 3.00 I don’t know how the people in the state of ISRAEL can offer to drive cars 🤔
