Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he believes there is a possibility that the Trump administration can engineer peace in the Middle East, in part due to the “real estate” experience of President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“Look, it’s a very able team that the president has,” Netanyahu told CNN host Fareed Zakaria. “The thing that people don’t realize is that these people have made their mark in the markets in real estate.”

The interview, which aired Sunday, was conducted onstage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Zakaria asked Netanyahu about Kushner, who some experts have said is beyond his depth when it comes to negotiating a Middle East peace deal along with all the other priorities on his plate.

Netanyahu conceded that any Middle East peace deal is about far more than just real estate.

“It’s fundamentally not a real estate deal, but a problem of recognizing Israel’s existence, the problem of not recognizing a Jewish state in any boundary,” he said. “But it also has its real estate elements, and they’re, I have to say, very creative, you know. And I wait to see what they’ll put down.”

Of Trump’s historic declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Netanyahu said: “He did a great service for peace, because peace can only be based on truth, on reality. And denying the simple fact that Israel’s capital is Jerusalem is — pushes peace backward by creating an illusion, a fantasy. You can’t build peace on fantasy.”
