Israel Police announced on Monday, 21 Teves, that a 28-year-old Israeli man is in custody, suspected of perpetrating a number of shul robberies in the southern city of Sderot. The suspect tied himself to the break-ins during questioning.
The suspect is alleged to have broken into a number of local shuls last week. He stole the pushkes from shuls and in one case, he succeeded in opening a safe and made off with a large sum.
The suspect remains in custody as the prosecutor prepares the indictment against him, which is likely to be filed in the coming days.
