The state prosecutor has decided to move ahead with a planned appeal of the acquittal of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in the Talansky cash envelopes and the Rishon Tours cases. The appeal in those verdicts was filed with the Supreme Court. Included in the appeal was a challenge of what the state views as too light a sentence, a 75,000 NIS fine and probation following the conviction on lesser charges.
In June Mr. Olmert was cleared of most of the charges in these cases against him by the Jerusalem District Court.
