MK (Likud) David Bitan, the former coalition chairman under investigation for alleged involvement in illegal activities, was questioned by police from the Lahav 433 Unit again on Thursday, 17 Teves. He reportedly maintained his right to remain silent during the 90-minute questioning. Despite having been questioned a number of times, Bitan is not cooperating as he prefers to remain silent.
Bitan was forced to resign as coalition chairman due to mounting public pressure. He is under investigation for the period during which he served as head of the Rishon L’Tzion Planning & Building Committee, reportedly working with organized crime families, granting permits in exchange for money, using this system to pay off millions of shekels of debt. While resigning as coalition chairman, he continues serving as a Member of Knesset.
