United Hatzalah personnel were among the EMS response to the fire in Eilat on Tuesday morning, 15 Teves. One person was seriously injured and unconscious after a fire broke out on Eilat Street. The Fire Department evacuated the male victim from the burning building after which he was treated at the scene before being evacuated to the hospital by MDA paramedics.

Paul Partush, a United Hatzalah EMT said: “When I arrived at the scene with emergency medical ambucycle together with other volunteers from United Hatzalah who live in close proximity to where the incident occurred, we provided first aid treatment to a 60-year-old man who was unconscious and badly injured due to suffering smoke inhalation after the Fire Department evacuated him from his apartment.”

MDA reports the victim was transported to Yosef-Tal Hospital in the city. Paramedic Gabi Barivo adds that a final search of the building revealed a dog who appeared in an altered state of consciousness and suffering from smoke inhalation. He phoned the veterinary doctor who treats his dog and they received first aid instructions via the phone.

After inhalation therapy, the dog’s condition improved, and the dog was sent to a local veterinary clinic for follow-up care.
