A terror cell operating in the Binyamin Region has been arrested, the Shin Bet has announced.
On November 17, 2017, five members of a terror cell in Yehuda and Shomron who were active in promoting terrorist attacks were arrested during the course of Shin Bet activities together with the IDF and the Israel Police, under the guidance of a Hamas informant from Gaza.
In the Shin Bet investigation, it was revealed that the person behind the cell was Abdallah Arar, a Hamas terrorist who was involved in the abduction of Sasson Nuriel, who was deported to Gaza as part of the “Shalit deal”. Once again, a terrorist who found his freedom in the Shalit exchange deal is re-arrested for his connection to terror.
According to the suspicions, Arar instructed Alah Salim, a resident of Jaba in Binyamin, to set up a squad and purchase a M16 rifle in order to carry out an attack as soon as possible, and transferred money to him for this purpose.
In addition, Alah Salim approached Riyan, also a resident of Jaba, asking him to help him buy an M16 rifle and for that he transferred thousands of shekels to him, and asked him to help him recruit activists for his cell. The connection with Mahmoud Abu Arkov was made, a young Hamas terrorist from a-Ram, who recruited him for a cell.
Recently, there has been a growing motivation of the Hamas headquarters in Gaza to promote terrorist attacks by operatives of the organization in Yehuda and Shomron.
