According to the new US-Israel aid plan, Israel will receive a total of $30 billion in military aid over the next ten years starting in 2009, with the amounts gradually increasing from $2.55 billion to a ceiling of $3.1 billion as of 2013 and throughout the plan.
As with previous aid packages, Israel may use up to 25% of the funds for purchases of military equipment and arms from local defense industries. The remaining 75% must be used for arms purchases from the US.
The aid for 2009 will also include an additional $30 million for assistance with immigration absorption.

Indeed the United States is a Medina shel Chessed; however, there are many strings attached to this largess. How these strings are pulled will depend on us, not US.

Reliance on such American “chesed” is shortsighted. It makes Israel beholden to the U.S. and deprives Israel of its ability to protect itself as it sees fit. It also gives anti-semites fodder for thier cause, particulalry in a bad economy. Israel and the Jews in golus should develop a mechanism whereby Israel can survive and thrive without without U.S. aid.

1. for example, israel must extraditeits citizens to the us, despite its wishes (the truth is, despite what you hear, that few countries, even “democracies” like france, italy, etc never extradite their citizens to the us).

You should note how much is given to the Moderate Arab States in particular the friendly friend of Bush, the Emirates of Saudais. You will be less impressed with the grant given to Israel when you see how much the other Middle Eastern countries receive.
the service that isreal provides the u.s. in the middle east is worth alot more than 3 billion so you can’t call it chessed which means that you do for someone without expecting anything in return. true chessed only comes from hashem.
Several years ago, the US gave Israel 10 Billion
in loans, grants etc. $200 Million was withheld as punishment for the building of the wall. Israel should be given not $30 Billion but
$30.2 billion.

actually, the $200 mill was witheld not due to the wall, but due to israel’s using the loan guarantees for resettling (russian) refugees over the “green line”.
this was during bush 41’s term, and he was acting against shamir, whom he did not like, at the time.
