Following the shiva for Maran HaGaon HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman ZT”L, and during the month of the shloshim, there will be gatherings of chizuk and hespedim for the late Gadol Hador, as per the instructions of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky.

This coming Wednesday, one such event is scheduled at Yeshivas Orchos Torah with the participation of Gedolei Hador Shlita including Hagaon HaRav Kanievsky, Ponevezh Rosh Yeshiva Maran HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein, HaGaon HaRav Dovid Landau, HaGaon HaRav Baruch Dov Povarsky, HaGaon HaRav Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi, HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch and a number of Admorim Shlita.

Kikar Shabbos reports that while making a shiva visit to the Shteinman aveilim, the Belzer Rebbe Shlita was invited to the event on Wednesday. The Rebbe is reportedly weighing the possibility of attending.

Once is reminded it falls on “Zos Chanukah”, a time when there is traditionally a tisch among admorim, including Belz.

Additional gatherings to provide chizuk and be maspid the late Torah giant will be run under the banner of the Ateres Shlomo and Yissocher B’Oholecha Kollels, which were run by the Rosh Yeshiva ZT”L as well as Kollel Ponevezh. In addition, events will be held in in Yeshivas Chevron in Yerushalayim and other cities around the country.

Kikar Shabbos News adds that HaGaon HaRav Mishkovsky asked Hagaon HaRav Kanievsky if one should travel abroad to deliver words of chizuk and hesped as well. Rav Kanievsky instructed him to travel abroad and give a chizuk to the tzibur at large following the loss.

Rav Kanievsky also called on heads of Kollel Chazon Ish to hold similar gatherings of chizuk and hesped.

The late Rosh Yeshiva’s chavrusa, HaRav Moshe Yehuda Schneider, visited with Rav Kanievsky seeking advice. Rav Kanievsky instructed him to give hespedim, adding, “His last will showed the greatness of the Gadol Hador and how everything was modesty”.
