The following provides a bit of an insight of the impact the four-hour Histadrut strike on Sunday morning had on the airports and seaports. The strike shut down the entire nation, a solidarity strike with over 3,000 Teva Pharmaceuticals employees facing dismissal.

Ben-Gurion Airport:
8,800 passengers passed through during the night as some flights were moved up to avoid the strike. As a result of the strike, seven flights were canceled (14 take offs and seven landings) including Arkia to Larnaca, Aeroflot to Moscow, 4 flights from SwissAir and one flight from Turkish Airlines.

In an effort to avoid as many delays as possible, 13 takeoffs took place between 5:00am-6:00am. From 6:00am-7:00mam, an additional 27 takeoffs and from 7:00am-8:00am, an additional 26 takeoffs for a total of 66.

There were 12 landings from 5:00am-8:00am.

The airport will resume regular operations beginning at noon. That marks the resumption of passenger security check-ins. The first takeoff is scheduled for 2:30pm. From 12 noon until 6:00pm, there are 185 takeoffs and landings scheduled (98 landings and 87 takeoffs).

The Airports Authority urges all passengers to check with their airline as scheduling changes may occur.

Domestic Flights
Flights to and from Eilat and S’dei Dov resume at 11:30am. That means check in may by the same, a half hour before takeoff.

Uvda Airforce Airport
All flights were halted between 8:00am-12:00pm. There are a total of twelve takeoffs and landings scheduled for after the strike.

All crossings between Israel and Jordan were closed during the strike hours.

  1. Aha. So the entire corrupt Country of Israel goes on strike and everything is fine. No horror stories. No missed doctor appointments. No missed birthday parties. No missing taking medications. No coming late to Seder. No giving birth in the backseat of a cab. Etc, etc.
But when a couple of bad apple bachurim block a street, all the Torah haters come out of the woodwork. Suddenly the Torah haters paint everyone with a broad brush.
    Talk about a double standard!

  2. Anyone with a half brain knows Peleg is alot worse and its not just a few bad apples its more like a whole orchatd of rotten to the core apples.

  3. Tango, if words such as yours appeared on, say, some neo-Nazi website, would you be clamoring to have that site shut down , and to prosecute the perpetrators? It’s likely you would. So, why do you feel you’re allowed to post such anti-Semitic drivel on YWN? And for that matter, why does YWN publish such anti-Semitic trash. And don’t tell me well, you’re justified for expressing such attitudes, that you have good reasons for such talk. Because, to be sure, the National Socialists in the 1930s and 40s ALSO felt that their Jew-hatred was justified. That there were good reasons for hating the Jews. Just like you.

  4. american_yerushalmi – Takes2-2tango compared two groups of Jews, stating that one group was worse than the other. How can that be Anti-Semitic? Unless you think that any negative comment about any group of Jews is inherently Anti-Semitic, in which case I urge you to revisit the comments that you have posted on this site that have been mighty critical of other groups of Jews.
