Once again, an aircraft collision nearly occurred on Friday at Ben Gurion Airport. According to reports, it was an error of judgment by a flight controller that almost caused a midair disaster.
As the Jerusalem Post reported: “A preliminary investigation showed that an Israir plane, performing landing practice, was called by the tower to commence procedure, while a Turkish jet was preparing to land on the same strip. Only 1,500 meters separated the two planes before the flight inspector realized the mistake and landed both planes with no harm.”
The Israir plane was carrying 4 crew members, and the Turkish Airliner was carrying hundreds of passengers, Ynet reports.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
This is the first incident of 2008, but YWN had reported numerous incidents at Ben Gurion Airport in 2007.

Thank G-d nothing serious happened! How many of us when we travel just mumble tefilas haderech without proper kavanah. We must realize that our minds are inadequate even to imagine all the possible things that could go horribly wrong and only Hashem who looks after a trillion things at once can ensure us a safe journey.
let’s admit it, israel is somewhere between the first and third world countries.
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. they need to be more careful.

Hey bobby57-
Are hiding in a hole somewhere? Israel is a leading manufacturing country in the area of technology and healthcare, not to mention the plastics industry!
The problem here is human error, maybe they need better training.
