An IDF soldier was lightly injured on Sunday evening after a rock-throwing incident near the town of Harmala in east Gush Etzion. The incident took place during a violent protest by Palestinians from the town as part of the continuing protests following President Donald Trump’s announcement to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The soldier was taken for treatment to a hospital in Jerusalem.
The stone-throwing incident is the second of the day in the eastern Gush Etzion area on Sunday. The first incident took place in the morning on Highway 356, which passes Harmala and connects the Jewish towns in the area to Jerusalem’s Har Homa neighborhood. During this morning stone-throwing incident, a 9-year-old girl was lightly injured after the car she, her mother and sister were driving in was ambushed by Palestinian rock-throwers who launched large stone blocks at the car from less than three feet away.
