Mrs. Chagit Bitan, the wife of Knesset Coalition Chairman MK David Bitan, has been summoned by Israel Police’s Serious Crimes Unit to be questioned in the Rishon L’Tzion City Hall corruption case. Many believe the unfolding case marks the beginning of the end for Bitan in Knesset, as he reportedly accepted money from organized crime families to pay off NIS 16 million in debts while serving as the head of the city’s Building & Planning Committee.
Mrs. Bitan was sent to house arrest at her sister’s home, and the two, her and her husband, are prohibited from discussing the case with one another.
MK Bitan was questioned for 13 hours earlier in the week and is scheduled to report for a second session of questioning on Wednesday, 18 Kislev.

Apparently in Israel they only tolerate the police leaking information to the public!
