The Ministerial Law Committee has approved Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s bill regarding the removal of restrictions of funds for demobilized soldiers. Lieberman wants to permit demobilized soldiers to use the money for any purpose they see fit, without the current restrictions. Today, a demobilized soldier can withdraw all the money within the first five years of leaving the service for five goals only: studies, establishing a business, buying an apartment, getting married or to get a driver’s license.
The ministerial committee has agreed to Liberman’s proposal to lift all restrictions on pulling one’s money. Until the bill reaches its second and third readings in Knesset, the Ministries of Defense and Finance will work to reach understandings regarding the method of payment of the deposited funds.
