Israel’s chief rabbis, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar and Yonah Yechiel Metzger along with dozens of rabbonim and admorim have issued a p’sak halacha prohibiting one from lighting shabbos and yomtov candles inside one’s sukka after candles have led to many fires over recent years, R”L some with catastrophic results.

The rabbonim met with Jerusalem Fire Chief Shmulik Friedman, who urged them to come out against lighting candles in the sukka, explaining over the years they have responded to too many fires caused by candles lit in the sukka, an extremely flammable environment.
