The Trial Of Rav Avraham Yosef Ends With Plea Bargain Agreement

The trial of HaGaon HaRav Avraham Yosef Shlita in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court has ended. In a deal bargain with the prosecution, the judgement is that Rav Yosef will pay 75,000 NIS.

The prosecution back in 2015 announced he would be filing an indictment against Rabbi Yosef, alleging he abused his post as Chief Rabbi of Holon to advance the agenda of the family-owned Badatz Beit Yosef.

Rabbi Yosef, who was also a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, has since been compelled to step down from this post as well as Holon’s Chief Rabbi, where he served for decades. The rav also had to agree not to assume any public post in the coming seven years.

  1. I had been told by my rabbonim to avoid using the Badatz Beit Yosef heksher, now I am understanding why it is not worth the sticker that is on the label….

Shame when a hecksher boils down to paying money….
