United Hatzalah EMS personnel treated two people who were injured after an explosion was heard in a parking lot underneath a residential building that caused numerous cars to explode. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 18 Cheshvan on Kineret Street in Ashdod just before 8:30am.

Numerous vehicles were damaged in the blaze that also caused smoke to billow up into the apartments above. The incident is currently being investigated by the police.

United Hatzalah EMT Avi Bahar, who lives nearby and was one of the first responders on scene said: “I was with my family outside our home when I heard the explosion. The explosion was followed immediately by billowing smoke rising from in between the buildings. In a matter of seconds, United Hatzalah dispatchers had reported a number of cars on fire on Kineret Street. I raced over to the building arriving in just a few moments and began treating two people who were injured and lying near the entrance to one of the buildings near the explosion. As I was treating them, other EMS personnel from the UH ambucycle unit joined me and assisted in treating the patients who were suffering from abrasions, contusions, and smoke inhalation. Fire & Rescue arrived and began putting out the flames.”
