Former Minister Stas Misezhnikov, who represented Yisrael Beitenu in the Knesset, will soon make his way to jail and join the list of former ministers convicted and imprisoned.
Misezhnikov, who served as tourism minister, was questioned on suspicion of a serious conflict of interest while serving as tourism minister. This led to the filing of an indictment, but the State Prosecutor’s Office has reached a plea bargain agreement according to which he will confess to fraud and breach of trust.
In line with the agreement, he will pay a fine of 70,000 shekels and serve 15 months in prison.
Last month, ten persons affiliated with the Yisrael Beitenu party headed by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman were linked to law-breaking including money laundering, bribery and breach of trust. This includes former Deputy Minister of the Interior Fania Kirschenbaum. The investigation was made public by authorities in December 2014.
