Jerusalem ‘Cleaner’ In Custody For Cleaning Out More Than Dirt From Homes

An indictment for theft from 14 homes has been filed against a Jerusalem resident in her 60s, who worked as a cleaner and “cleaned” the homes of her clients from valuable objects, a Jerusalem police spokesman reported on Thursday, 6 Cheshvan.

The police’s sophisticated investigation was launched following a number of complaints from residents of the city, indicating a repetitive pattern of theft of valuables from their homes. Soon, it matured into a sophisticated operational activity that led to the suspect being apprehended in the act, leading to her arrest and a criminal indictment.

A number of complaints were received from residents of the city over the course of several weeks, indicating a repeated pattern of action by which homeowners would respond to Internet ads about cleaning services and ordered the cleaning woman to their homes.

She would tell them during working hours that something urgent has come up and that she must leave unexpectedly. It did not take too long for homeowners to soon realize she made off with jewelry, cash, and other items.

A search of the suspect’s apartment revealed many of the items reported stolen.
