Israel Police arrested another senior Health Ministry official in the food additives affair.
On Wednesday morning, 5 Cheshvan, investigators from the National Food Service Department of the Health Ministry arrested a senior employee of the National Food Service of the Ministry of Health on suspicion of receiving bribes from food importers.
This case became public about a month and a half ago, with the arrest of a number of importers and import consultants, as well as the detention of five senior employees of the Ministry of Health (food engineers in their profession) who are gatekeepers of the country’s borders as they must certify the integrity of food being imported into the country. However, according to the allegations against them, they chose to act “differently” in exchange for bribes and favors.
The investigation is continuing, and more arrests and interrogees are expected, police report.
