MKs from the Degel Hatorah party in Knesset are signing a document which states that they are in no way connected to the activities and protests of the Peleg faction. In the letter, they denounce the Peleg protests.
Kikar Shabbos News adds that some MKs from Shas have also signed the document. Yaakov Litzman, who is from the chassidish Agudas Yisrael faction of Degel Hatorah, refuses to sign. He explains his tzibur is adamantly against such protests so there is no need for him to sign.
The letter states that the MKs and the tzibur which they represent are opposed to the protests, which they denounce. A second letter being signed is intended for the Knesset Guard, stating the same thing, that they oppose the protests and the violence.
This is because there was a protest outside Knesset on Monday that caused delays and closures for some two hours, and the MKs want the Knesset Guard to understand that they and their constituents have no hand in those events.
At present, military police have arrested 45 deserters, most during protests. Two were arrested last week near the Dead Sea.
In a related matter, Yeshivas Knesset Yitzchak, Hadera, headed by HaGaon Rav Yehoshua Erenberg, held shiurim outside IDF Prison 6 on Wednesday in a showing of solidarity with the imprisoned colleagues. The rav plans to continue doing so to give support to Peleg-affiliated talmidim whom have been arrested by military authorities for failing to register for military service.

Why does litzman consider himself above everyone else? If he is truly against the protests , why is he chicken to sign just like everyone else?????
Obviously its a political move. Sooner or later his reasons will surface.
b/c the gerrers themselves also made protests not so long ago… so he has a bit of sense in his head and did not sign.
in another year or two, suddenly when those very MK’s need to go out and protest, they will have a little problem doing so…
of course they are against peleg. Peleg proves that their derech is wrong. Degel keeps on telling bochurim to register for a deferral, but more bochurim who register for deferrals have been arrested and jailed than those jailed for not turning up at all. Just yesterday there was a demonstration outside the draft board in Rechov Rashi because a 17-year-old bochur who turned up to register for a deferral had his request rejected and he was jailed rather than enlist. There are tens of such stories but they don’t reach the press… ever wonder why? For Degel, this is politics as usual, and they have a lot of money and prestige at stake. A high-up police official is on record as saying that the recent wave of arrests of Peleg bochurim who don’t register was pushed for aggressively by – guess who – the MKs from Degel Ha”Torah”

maybe it isn’t litzman who is chicken but the reverse, those who are supposed to represent bnei torah should fearlessly stand up for the torah,
