Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Tuesday, 4 Cheshvan, addressed a conference during which she touched on a number of matters.
One of the points she touched upon is the release of Arab terrorists from Israeli prisons as Israel did in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange of 2011, in which Israel released 1,027 terrorists in exchange for the return of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, with the latter spending five years and four months in Hamas captivity in Gaza.
Shaked stated that for as long as the Bayit Yehudi party is a member of the coalition, terrorists will not be released in the future as was the case with Shalit. She stated “The Shalit deal will not be repeated”, adding criteria for the release of terrorists must be established.
Clearly, she did not state there would not be any terrorists released, but she indicated such an overwhelmingly one-sided deal would not take place with her party in the coalition government.
