After long and complicated negotiations, rabbonim in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem have removed their cherem to a community pool. The signing of an agreement between the rabbonim, the “Community Swimming” (“שחייה בקהילה”) NGO and the Ramot Alon Community Council. The agreement states the objections to the pool are lifted and there will be separate swimming for the area’s chareidi population.

Kikar Shabbos News adds the agreement was given a bracha by HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita, head of the Shas Council of Torah Sages as well as well as Avraham Betzalel, who holds the city council sports portfolio.

The rabbis of the neighborhood write in their letter: “We are informing the public that after long negotiations with the pool management, separate hours were achieved for the chareidi religious public, with an emphasis in the agreement placed on all matters of modesty, kedusha and Shabbos.”

The rabbis also write: “The holy public will be able to return to the pool according to the timetable of the separate hours, which bears the seal approved by the neighborhood rabbis.”

The letter is signed by neighborhood rabbonim including: Rabbi Yisrael Gulman, Rabbi Oriel Eisenthal, Rabbi Ori Banun, Rabbi Dan Ben-Moshe, and Rav Atali.
