120 Peleg Protesters Arrested By Police

A Jerusalem police spokesman reported on Friday morning Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan that 120 persons involved in Peleg faction protests were arrested for disturbing the peace. This includes arrests made Thursday afternoon in Beit Shemesh as well as the capital, both under the same police district.

The report states, “Throughout the disturbances, the police acted with determination to maintain public order, directing and arranging traffic to alternate routes.

“At some point, areas of protest were opened to traffic except for Sarei Yisrael Street and Nordau Street, and some of the demonstrators left.

“Throughout the demonstrations, the police helped many civilians who were caught up in the riots and could not reach their destination.

“The police are continuing their preparations for the disturbances”.

  1. Not a single bochur was ever forced to join the army. The only ones who get arrested are those who refuse to get a p’tor (deferement)…. this is such a huge chilul hashem when thousands of Jews both frum and frie see this lowly behavior and say oy l’mi shlomdo Torah…. this is like the biryonim before the churban bayis sheini

  2. you should get your facts straight before writing.
many bachurim have had their deferral requested refused and were either drafted or imprisoned.
many more than the number of bachurim imprisoned for never reporting in the first place.
    and a p’tor is not a deferment – it’s an exemption.
don’t you know what a chillul Hashem is? A chillul Hashem doesn’t mean “oh dear, now the secular think that religious Jews are nasty.” It means letting Hashem’s Name and Torah be trampled, which is what happens when we sit back and do nothing while yeshivah bachurim are arrested for not joining the army.

  3. We live in Jerusalem and are foster parents of a 5 year old downs syndrome boy who is on oxygen tanks 24/7. His ride home from gan in the afternoon takes 30-45 minutes. BY the end of day like this, the oxygen tank can be running very low with little margin for error.

ON Thursday, the day of these protests, instead of returning home at 5:30 pm – 5:45 pm, our son returned home at 6:45 pm. The driver of his tender was in constant contact trying to find a way to reach close to our home, but the protests made the streets a balagon.

A GOOD YID NEEDS TO EXAMINE THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTIONS. Putting the life of a five-year old special needs child in danger protest in religious neighborhoods does not make sense.
