Nine criminal indictments were handed down in the Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday 10 Elul 5772 in what is being dubbed the “Jerusalem Lynch” case, referring to the assault on Arabs at Kikar Tzion in the downtown area of the capital.
The defendants include 19-year-old Shimon Siman Tov, 19, and the remainder is minors. The prosecution is treating the attack as a hate crime, pointing out that shouts of “Death to Arabs” and “Die Ahmad” were heard during the assault.
At the remand hearing, Siman Tov told the court “I don’t hate Arabs, don’t shout racial slurs and I was not even at Kikar Tzion when the attack occurred. I don’t know why I am here”.
The court has ordered Shimon and four of the minors held without bail pending the verdict in the trial.
