In another legal attempt to permit MKs access to Har Habayis, MK (Likud) Yehuda Glick has petitioned the High Court of Justice to instruct Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to stop his interference regarding elected officials visiting Har Habayis on Sukkos.
Glick turned to the High Court on Monday, 12 Tishrei, represented by attorney Aviad Visuli. He wants the court to instruct the Prime Minister not to interfere and permit MKs and cabinet ministers to visit Har Habayis during Sukkos and Shemini Atzeres.
Glick adds that all relevant security agencies are ready to permit MKs onto Har Habayis at present. Glick explains that he met with PM Netanyahu over a month ago, and at the time, he was promised if the pilot permitting MKs onto Har Habayis is successful, and it was, then MKs would once again be able to return to visit the site.
“I feel cheated and hurt, after it turns out that the pilot was only ‘throwing a bone’ as if members of the Knesset were dogs. To prevent members of the Knesset from performing the pilgrimage on Sukkos is a provision that contradicts any law and contradicts the recommendations of the security forces”, Glick explains.
Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis, which they explain carries the punishment of karess.
