During his appearance in the Ma’aras HaMachpelah for slichos on Tuesday, 6 Tishrei, Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to permit the building of Hebron’s Jewish community.

Rav Yosef was taking part in the annual slichos in Hebron, which were implemented by HaGaon HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu ZT”L. He called on PM Netanyahu to permit continued construction of the Jewish community of the holy city, which he emphasized belong exclusively to the Jewish People, as we know it is recorded in Chumash that it was purchased. Rav Yosef added the section purchased by the Admor HaRaiyatz of Chabad known as ‘Rova Chizkiyahu’ which belongs to the Jewish People according to all accounts.

Rav Yosef added, “Especially after the terror attack that took place today, the response must be to build in Eretz Yisrael”. He praised Minister Aryeh Deri and Naftali Bennet who called on PM Netanyahu to increase construction for Jews in Israel, with Rav Yosef adding “especially in Hebron, to build as much as possible”.
