Egged officials suggest that as Sukkos approaches, one might contemplate a visit to the Egged Museum, the collection of over 80 old buses that were used by the company over the years. Company officials explain there is no charge for visiting and there is plenty of free parking.
There are over 80 buses portraying the company’s over 84-years of operation in the Holon facility. Visitors may board some of the buses, providing a feel of yesterday’s transportation realities.
The buses have been renovated to reflect their original state, down to the smallest detail and colors including authentic accessories, and most of them are even in driving condition.
The museum is located on Dan Shomron Street in Holon. Operating hours during Chol Hamoed Sukkos will be:
- 8:30am-12:30pm (October 8-10)
- 8:00am-12:00pm (October 6 Fri.)

I have been to the Egged Bus Museum 3 times on Chol Hamoed with my boys, and they love it (I have never taken my girls there, and do not intend to do so). The last trip was when the eldest was 16. They can sit in the driver’s seat in many – but not all – of the buses, and the parents can take pictures of them pretending to be drivers. Depending upon how “bus-crazy” your kids are, the visit could last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes.
