The Jerusalem Municipality’s Municipal Improvement Division began an unprecedented campaign to plant new seasonal plants throughout the city ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
In the coming days, some 53,000 seasonal flowers and plants will be planted, including but not limited to Bashamat, Petunias, Aryan and other well-known and beautiful plants will enrich the islands of traffic, intersections, public parks, squares and public gardens. The plants will be planted throughout the city: in the city center, Talpiot, Emek Refaim, Katamon, Givat Shaul, Har Nof, Romeima Bayit Vegan, Har Homa Armon HaNatziv, Ramat Eshkol, Gilo and many other neighborhoods.
In accordance with the municipality’s water saving policy, it was decided to plant thousands of flowers and plants of these types because they can bloom for a long period of time without daily treatment. These are good quality plants that are planted regularly in many European countries, because of their cost-effective beauty and their cost-effective water.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said, “In preparation for the New Year, we will paint Jerusalem with a variety of colors and flowers that will warm the heart and accept the hundreds of thousands of visitors, tourists and guests who will embark on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem of gold”. “We invest a great deal of resources in improving the appearance of the city and the tens of thousands of flowers that will be planted will blossom all corners of the city and improve its beauty,” said Itzik Nidam, head of operations. The planting of the flowers that began Monday 20 Elul, will end before Rosh Hashana.
