Israel Electric Company (IEC) turns to the public and asks to use electricity in an intelligent manner in anticipation of the upcoming Tishrei Yomim Tovim, citing proper use of electricity is safer and more cost-effective.
In the hours leading up to the eve of Rosh Hashanah and erev Shabbos, the use of electrical appliances increases significantly and in a relatively short period of time, the demand for electricity increases. This situation is liable to cause a strain on the electricity system and cause disturbances on the electricity grid and power failures.
Therefore, IEC seeks to divert, to the extent possible, the use of high-consumption instruments, such as; Washing machines, dishwashers, dishwashers and baking ovens to an earlier time and to distribute the load on the electrical system so that the peaks of the specific demand will be distributed throughout the day and the day before.
Moshe Cohen, Director of the Jerusalem District of the Israel Electric Corporation, said, “We appeal to the general public to divert the consumption and make wise use of electrical appliances, especially on Rosh Hashanah eve, as this year begins on Wednesday and lasts for 3 days and Shabbos. And without interruptions during the entire holiday and Shabbos and for this purpose appeals to the public to make intelligent use of electricity so that you will enjoy regular electricity supply and reliable and efficient service. ”
The increased use of electrical appliances has to match the size of the electricity connection to the needs of the family. The IEC is asking the public to examine whether their connection is sufficient and, if necessary, to order enlargements for existing electrical connections. This is particularly true for customers whose electricity is not up to the load, leading to switches ‘jumping’ and shutting off power.
On Yomtov eve and on Friday nights, in light of expectations of increased demand and increased consumption loads, the IEC teams will be on special alert, which will include reinforcement of the workers on the ground, with the aim of renewing the supply of electricity quickly. At the same time, the company is working to arrive at understandings regarding the repair of electricity failures in the chareidi neighborhoods when a problem occurs on Shabbos, for all too often there is the aspect of pikuach nefesh.
IEC officials explain they maintain a close and focused relationship with the chareidi tzibur in different neighborhoods throughout the country, working in recognition of the unique needs of these neighborhoods and doing everything in its power to provide the best possible service.
