Sixteen years have passed since the tragedy of the Twin Towers and a special ceremony was held for the victims in Jerusalem, with the participation of the Fire Commissioner Teddy Simchi, US Ambassador David Friedman, JNF leaders, Knesset members and fire fighters and officers from the Jerusalem District.
Along with the fire fighters from Israel, four officers and fire fighters from the United States participated in the project as part of the EVP Firefighters for Israel project. The project aims to integrate firefighters from the United States in training and in routine emergency situations, in order to prevent firefighters from all over the United States and to help their fellow firefighters in Israel.
The cooperation was reflected in the huge wave of fires that hit Israel in November (Operation “Fire and Water”). Then dozens of US firefighters and officers came to Israel through the EVP program and helped the firefighters in Israel.
It should be noted that one of the American firefighters, despite the fear and difficulty of reaching Israel at this time, the firefighter decided to come to Israel to train and assist in the emergency events for his friends in Israel. He is now in Israel, serving and living in Florida where Hurricane Harvey is raging.

On 9/11, there were also tragedies at the Pentagon (125 dead plus 59 on American Airlines Flight 77 that hit it) and in Pennsylvania (40 dead on United Airlines Flight 93). [Not counting the terrorists.]
