(VIDEOS AND PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)
Paratroopers who were among the fighters who liberated Har Habayis in the June 1967 Six Day War visited the holy site on Thursday morning 16 Elul as a prearranged group. The letters among the photos are the email inviting them and providing them instructions of where and when to meet and what they should bring along.
It is reported they have not visited the site since liberating it in 1967.
Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis, which they explain carries the punishment of karess.

Why does YWN post this if it is assur?
The article does say this. And to be honest, this is becoming more accepted. Including the yeshivishe and chassidishe velt.
