Israel’s Public schools opened officially on Sept. 1st, Erev Shabbos, but not for the former residents of Yishuv Migron, who left voluntarily five years ago amid government promises a new community would be constructed for them.

The High Court of Justice ruled community homes were built on private Arab land. The government promised to rebuild their homes and expand the community if residents left without a struggle and while they did, they still remain homeless today, five years later.

Instead of a first day of classes for students on Friday, the parents and children on Sunday, 12 Elul, stood outside while the cabinet convened for its weekly meeting – one again demanding a solution to their problem as promised would be the case.
