At the beginning of last week, Israel Police received a complaint from a resident of Jerusalem, stating that during a road accident between his private car and a taxi, during a discussion, the taxi driver allegedly got his hand through the car window and stole a bag on the chair.
The complainant returned to his vehicle and noticed that the file containing some 43,000 shekels in cash had been stolen and immediately went to the police, where he gave his testimony and gave identifying details about the taxi. He added that this was the revenue of his private business.
Investigators of the Crime Department at the Lev Ha’ir station opened a covert investigation, during which findings and evidence were collected using advanced technological means.
The investigation led detectives to the home of the suspect, in southern Jerusalem. When they conducted a search, they found the bag with the cash inside.
The police statement read, “The return of the money to its owners provides great satisfaction for our daily work, with its sole purpose to arrive at the truth in the shortest possible time and with much professionalism in order to bring the suspects to justice who harm the security and property of law-abiding citizens”.
