A major kabolas panim is planned for the Kikar Shabbos area of Yerushalayim on Thursday afternoon 2 Elul, as avreich Binyamin Friedman is being released from prison after eight months.

Freidman was arrested last Teves during a protest against the arrest of females who did not report for military service. He refused to cooperate with police, and he told the court he does not recognize the judicial system of the “kofrim”. He was held without bail and later sent to jail for the protests he took part in.

During recent months there have been protests on his behalf, along with thousands of letters sent to him in prison from the general public as well as from Gavaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita, Eida Chareidis Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita and other rabbonim shlita on the Eida Beis Din.

Friedman and his family was supported by the Eida during his imprisonment. Just a few weeks ago, his wife was hosted at a Satmar camp in NYC together with the Satmar Rebitzen and during Pesach, Birchas HaIlanos was held near Hadarim Prison where he was held.

The Thursday evening events are set to begin at 7:00PM with thousands of children lining the streets in the Shivtei Yisrael area. A march is planned and the Gavaad and others will address the event.
