Authorities continue the investigation into Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri, who is allegedly involved in tax evasion and money laundering. According to a Yisrael Hayom report on Wednesday, 1 Elul, Tax Authority inspectors during the morning hours raided the Jerusalem offices of the Jerusalem Planning Committee searching for documents related to a number of real estate deals linked to Deri. Years after the fact, police investigators are working to determine Deri’s role, if any, as well as that of NGOs connected to him.

The ongoing investigation against Deri began in April 2016, and seems to be expanding as police uncover evidence connected to the minister. Deri has announced a number of time that he is totally cooperative with authorities, responding to all questions to the best of his ability. His wife Mrs. Yafeh Deri has also been questioned, as has been a brother.
