Large Chareidi Family Rescued From Nachal Amud


Its bein hazmanim in Eretz Yisrael, and as is the case annually, many chareidi persons take advantage of the time to take in some sites and fresh air – however failing to prepare properly.

In this case, a large family with children, with the youngest being 8-months-old, were rescued from Nachal Amud after getting lost, heading to Meron.

According to the police report, volunteers of the Galil Carmel Police Rescue Unit were activated, working until close to midnight to bring the chareidi family of eighteen people to safety.

On Wednesday, 24 Menachem Av, at about 4:00PM, the report was received of the large family, which was in need of assistance, having lost its way in the Upper Galil. There was telephone communication, which assisted rescue working in determining the general area of the parents and their 16 children.

The rescue team arrived after dark. They gave each member of the family a light stick to assist in keeping track of everyone. The family was also given water and flashlights. They were directed out of the area via the easiest safest route and they were officially clear of the area at 10:00PM.

A short time later, the unit was activated again, this time in search of two males in the area, 13 and 25.

Police and other agencies urge hikers to use authorized routes only and to be certain to be stocked as required. Police also explain that persons heading out must evaluate a route to determine if it is suitable for them.
