Interior Minister Aryeh Deri asked the court to strip an Arab terrorist of his citizenship and in a first-time ruling, the court complied. Ala Ahmed Zayoud is the terrorist who was responsible for a ramming attack near Hadera on October 11, 2015. As a result of the attack, a female soldier sustained serious injuries and others were wounded light and moderately. He was charged with four counts of attempted murder.
His citizenship will be revoked but given temporary status under law, so in essence, he may continue living in Israel by having the temporary status extended from time-to-time once he completes serving his prison term.
