AG, a graduate of Ponevezh Yeshiva, was arrested on Tisha B’Av night for desertion after stopping for inspection by police between Beit Choron and Beit Shean.

The person did not report to an enlistment office as instructed by rabbonim, and he is now classified as a draft evader and he was arrested by police at the checkpoint. He was detained by traffic police until military police arrived. He was taken directly to a military prison and will be placed on trial.

Peleg officials are deciding if they will renew protests following the arrest. The person arrested is not an avreich but works to earn a living.
