Tisha B’Av has started in Eretz Yisroel, and thousands have gathered at the Kosel and are reciting Eicha.
Police are on High operational alert during Tisha B’Av as tens of thousands of Jews are expected to make their way to the Kosel and the Old City. Tisha B’Av is undoubtedly one of the busiest days of the year at the Kosel and this year, surrounding weeks of Islamic violence and continued threats, accusing Israel of plotting to harm al-Aqsa and undermine the religious status quo that has been in place in recent years.
Israel has of course denied the allegations and has even removed the metal detectors from Har Habayis. Nevertheless, the storm continues as the Arab world and its supporters continue to point an accusing finger of Israel.
Plainclothes units, uniformed officers and specialized units will all be operating during Tisha B’Av to prevent any and all attempts to disturb the peace.
