Three hundred twenty drivers have been arrested by the Israel Police on the roads of the Negev since the beginning of 2017 after they were caught, although their licenses were revoked for various traffic violations they committed, and those who are not allowed to drive at all.

“These are a “ticking bomb” on the road, and these drivers endanger the public of road users completely, some of them driving in a reckless manner against the law, while contemptuous of the decisions of the court and the police.

Every day, Israel Police officers carry out enforcement actions against life-threatening traffic violations, illegal drivers and offenses of hooliganism on the road. A great deal of emphasis can be enforced against those drivers who endanger the public, while cheapening the law and the enforcement authorities.

Some of these drivers never bothered to get a driver’s license or at times, their driver’s license is not compatible for the vehicles they drive. Sometimes, even minors, but they are still caught behind the wheel.

In addition, drivers are arrested and contrary to a court decision or a police officer authorized to give approval, there license is suspended for a period of time. This is ignored in a predatory manner and they continue to act as if nothing had happened.

All these unequivocally pose a significant danger to the lives of drivers and pedestrians alike, and therefore the police, through its various units, conducts focused activity, partly intelligence and partly open, to locate such drivers and bring them to trial in order to minimize the risk to the public. “Policemen of the Israel Police will continue their high-quality and focused enforcement activities on the roads of the Negev against lawbreakers who endanger the public of road users,” the police explain.

In addition to the daily activity to enforce traffic violations on the roads in the Negev, Israeli Police officers are conducting targeted operations, especially weekends on roads that are prone to trouble. In addition to increasing enforcement on these roads, the police conduct a wide range of “situational prevention” training, including police community days in schools, where children are taught how to drive in a vehicle environment, lectures to the adult population regarding careful driving in various schools.
