The residents of Revivim woke up Wednesday night to the realization the hay on the kibbutz had been set ablaze. The Regavim movement this week launched a campaign to increase enforcement in the south under the banner “The police must wake up”.
The residents of Kibbutz Revivim woke up tonight to the arson of the hay tower on the kibbutz, when the financial damage was estimated at hundreds of thousands of shekels.
This is not the first time that the hayloft has been ignited in recent years, with traces of previous events leading directly to Bir Hadaj, a nearby Bedouin village that was built illegally on privately owned land owned by Jews.
Just last week, the green patrol police arrived to file reports on illegal structures in Bir Hadaj. Source in the kibbutz estimated that the arson was a revenge ‘price tag’ attack against the recent activities of law enforcement, in this case, the green patrol.
Regavim’s new initiative is aimed as showing the lack of enforcement in the Negev when it comes to the illegal Bedouin structures. “There are elements who choose to bury their heads in the sand and attack the Regavim Movement instead of acknowledging the reality that the residents of the Negev suffer from”, their statement released Thursday morning read.
The Regavim media statement added, The huge flames last night in Kibbutz Revivim should serve as a warning regarding the lack of enforcement and governance. The Israel Police must wake up!”
